Good Works Garden

Produce from the garden will be utilised by Vinnies Blue Door in Ainslie Village

About Us

The Good Works Garden is a joint initiative of Argyle Housing, St Vincent de Paul Society Canberra/Goulburn and Dirty Janes Canberra, located in Fyshwick in Canberra, this unique garden fosters community inclusion, promotes learning new skills, and provides fresh produce for those less fortunate in our community.

Produce from the garden will be utilised by Vinnies Blue Door in Ainslie Village, to prepare free nutritious meals to those who need it throughout the year.

Residents of Argyle Housing and Oaks Estate will volunteer in the garden, which will help them:

  • Upskill for future job opportunities.

  • Improve mental health and well-being

  • Foster social connections and dignity.

At other times, members of the public, school and community groups can support the garden through organised working bees such as maintenance and harvesting of produce throughout the year. To express interest in helping the garden please complete this form and one of our coordinators will be in touch.

The Garden was made possible by the generosity of local businesses and the ACT Government and the hard work of many passionate volunteers and staff from all three organisations.
